About the PSI
The Platform for Socialism and Independence (PSI) was formed at a meeting between pro-independence socialist groups on the 9th of August 2025. The founders included the Scottish Socialist Youth (SSY), Republican Socialist Platform (RSP) and Socialists For Independence (SFI), alongside individuals from the Scottish Greens, Scottish Socialist Party (SSP), Aberdeen Marxist Caucus and RS21.

Participants at the meeting agreed to found the platform on the following 7 political and organisational principles:
- Independence for Scotland
- Socialism
- Decisions about Scotland being made in Scotland
- A grassroots, member-led democracy
- Equality and social liberation
- Environmentalism
- International solidarity

It was decided that the platform should elect a steering committee with three tasks:
- Reaching out to the Your Party project
- Making a founding statement
- Organising the next meeting of the platform and welcoming new organisations and individuals

The PSI is welcoming anybody who shares its perspective to sign up to the new joint platform. Together, participants in the PSI will continue to respond to developments in the Your Party project and advocate for an independent Scottish left party that stands for socialism and independence.
